TODAY’S YOUTH HAVE GREATER ACCESS TO INFORMATION AND TECHNOLOGY THAN ANY GENERATION BEFORE.

But young adults are also feeling pressures related to rapid change, complex global concerns, economic issues, and political polarization.

 

While these challenges can leave young adults feeling overwhelmed and powerless, they also present opportunities.

 

When young people are empowered, trained, and mentored, they can become dynamic advocates, and effective drivers of social and community change.

 

Through effective leadership development efforts, young adults can become servant leaders, better contribute to meaningful dialogue, and be better prepared offer fresh perspectives for how to address the myriad issues facing them and our communities. 

 

After all, a better world starts with better leaders.

 

In this 3-month, competency-based,  certificate program, young leaders will discover their leadership potential, and begin to acquire skills, confidence, and motivation to make things happen and bring about change in the places where they live, work, learn, play, and worship.

The Student Leadership Competencies consist of sixty competency areas within the eight following domains: 


Domain 1: Learning and Reasoning

Domain 2: Self-awareness and Development

Domain 3: Interpersonal Interaction

Domain 4: Group Dynamics

Domain 5: Civic Responsibility

Domain 6: Communication

Domain 7: Strategic Planning

Domain 8: Personal Behavior

The Program Outline

SESSION 1

Inclusive Leadership: The Phenomenon of Belonging

To provide an overview of invisible diversity, define and characterize unconscious bias, and describe the phenomenon of belongingness. At the heart of this webinar on will be a discussion of practical ways participants can cultivate a culture of belongingness in their social change efforts and the places where they live, learn, work, play, and worship.

SESSION 2

Alignment, Advocacy, and Action: Leading Social Change

To develop in each participant a greater capacity to mobilize and motivate themselves and others to serve and work collaboratively, and to advocate for, and undertake actions that will help advance, the causes impacting their communities.


SESSION 3

The Launch: Using Design Thinking as a Social Change Leader

Using a collaborative, interactive online gaming tool, this session will expose each participant to design thinking as a tool for creating transformative and creative solutions to today’s most complex social problems.



Facilitated by Montrece Ransom, also known as the Empowermenteur, this competency-based training program will address key components of the Student Leadership Competency Model.

 

Meet Montrece Ransom, The Empowermenteur

I am a force of nature, an empowerment coach, professional speaker & belonging strategist…and in my spare time, I do some voiceover work. They call me the Empowermenteur.


I believe in the power of “yes.”


Over the past two decades, I have coached and mentored hundreds of high achieving women and men, helping them create inspired, authentic lives and careers they can fall madly in love with. In recent years, I’ve been devoting my time and given professional talks across the country on my greatest passion: the impact of belonging on self-esteem and confidence.


I am obsessed with human potential, and helping other people reach theirs.


I earned my law degree from the University of Alabama School of Law, my Master of Public Health degree from Emory University’s Rollins School of Public Health, and she is currently earning her Executive Leadership Coaching Certification from Georgetown University.
